These next three verses, Rev. 3:12, 3:21, & 21:7, seem to give a summary of this topic of being an Overcomer. Rev., 3:12, seem to be referring to things concerning the Bride of Christ. A topic rarely discussed these days!

REVELATION 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.

This verse above is related to Rev. 21:2,” And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” Thus, revealing a little more information on the Bride of Christ. This city will be a great city not only for the way she is built, but because who lives there! According to various commentators they have things all fowled up about this subject! They seem to have it all messed up with their conclusions about who is the “BRIDE OF CHRIST”. While this term, “BRIDE OF CHRIST”, is not used in the scriptures there is enough evidence to show that there is one for the Lord Jesus is to marry someone. Rev.19:9, “And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb

These next couple of sections in green are inaccurate information in what they say about who is in the “BRIDE OF CHRIST”. And yes this phrase is not used in the Bible “per se”, but the idea of a “Bride” exists when Jesus is noted as the “Bridegroom”. The Gospels have 11 verses making this apparent! Matt. 9:15, 25:1,5, 6, 10, Mark 2:19,20. Luke 5:34, 35. John 2:9, 3:29

The bride of Christ symbolically represents all those who are in the first resurrection of the dead (the spiritual church of God). This group is composed of all believers, since the time of Adam, who had the Holy Spirit within them.

  1. The Bride of Christ | Berean Bible Society Interestingly, the “Bride of Christ” is an unscriptural phrase that is foreign to both programs of God. It is merely a theological expression that originated in the futile mind of man to describe those who will be present at the marriage of the Lamb preceding the kingdom (Rev. 19:7-9).
  1. What does the Bible say about the bride and the marriage ……The bride is the church of Christ. The church is made up of everyone who is on the way to becoming completely free from all sin, as Jesus is. It is those who have started down the path that will lead them to divine nature. Who will be in the bride of Christ?

The church is made up of everyone who is on the way to becoming completely free from all sin, as Jesus is. It is those who have started down the path that will lead them to divine nature. (2 Peter 1:4) Some people may be farther along this way than others. Some people may have just begun. But everybody who walks this way is a member of the body of Christ. They are preparing themselves to be the bride of Christ. They are making themselves ready. The bride is the church of Christ.

Ephesians 5:25-32, “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.”

The Church is the “Body of Christ”, only those that are “Born Again” by “The Spirit of God” in this “Age of Grace”, “The Church Age”! This doesn’t happen in any other Age. No one in the Old Testament was “Born Again”! Christ had not died in the “OT” Therefore, the following statement is False, “This group is composed of all believers, since the time of Adam, who had the Holy Spirit within them.” The “Holy Spirit” did not permanently indwell anybody as he does today, until 50 days after the Resurrection of Christ on the birth of the Church, The Feast of Pentecost! Although King David asked the Father that he not take the Spirit from him. However, the key word here is “permanently indwell”, Psalms 51:11-12, Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

REVELATION 3:21 To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

This is a great promise for the overcomer! Once Christ finished the work his Farther sent him to do, this is what Lord Jesus did!

REVELATION 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. Verse 8, But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

This is where I should throw in scripture on the “Judgment Seat of Christ”, “2 Cor. 5:10, For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad“. However, the description for this event is,

1 Cor. 3:11-15, For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Therefore, the question is, “How does this set verses apply to the “Overcomer”? When you find out let me know! Another blog perhaps!
