Who Were the Seventy Apostles?

THE SPRING FEASTS,  fullsizeoutput_20c

Here are the Original Spring Feasts Dates.

Feast of Passover,                   14 Nisan, 3790, or Wednesday, April 5, 30AD,                                  Feast of Unleavened Bread, 15-21 Nisan, 3790, or Thursday, Wednesday, 4-10, 30AD.                  Feast of Firstfruits,                 18 Nisan, 3790, or Sunday, April 7, 30AD,                            Pentecost,                                   8 Sivan, 3790, or Sunday,  May 26, 30 AD

an overview of the Feasts of the Lord, we will be looking at them according to date on the Hebrew and Gregorian calendars, which can be a little confusing at times.

Passover on the Hebrew calendar is always on 14 Nisan no matter what day of the week it falls on in the Gregorian we pagans use today.

Unleavened Bread follows Passover on the calendar, therefore, the dates are 15-21 Nisan, lasting one week.

Firstfruits, according to the Scriptures, it will be on a Sunday, the first day of the week!     Matt. 28:1,  “In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulcher”.

These first three feasts speak of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.  Jesus’ death, for the Israelites, as the slain lamb, whose blood was placed on the door post as the angel of death passover the Israelites to spare the first born son of each home, Exodus 12.  The Unleavened Bread was to be eaten with the lamb and bitter herbs.    This bread speaks of the sinlessness of the savior and the casting out of sin from a person’s life.  For we know a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump, Gal. 5:9.  The Feast of Firstfruits speak of the Resurrection of Christ from the grave, gaining victory over Death, Hell, and Satan.

The timing of these events comes into question here, especially with Passover and Firstfruits.  Firstfruits need be on Sunday, as noted above and Jesus was 3 days and nights in the grave, Matt. 12:40,   “For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth”.   This means that this Passover was on a Wednesday not on Friday in a particular year in the life of Christ.  You cannot get 3 full days and nights with a Friday Death, Burial, and resurrection.   The Resurrection when Christ rose from the dead was on the sunset at the end of the weekly Saturday Sabbath, 6:01pm Saturday, the Hebrew first day of the week, Sunday, Matt. 28:1.

Passover Nisan 14, 3790,   April 3, 30 AD is a Wednesday,  meaning Nisan 15, 30 AD is a High Sabbath Day, and the first day of the feast of Unleavened Bread.  Also meaning, within a two week time line there will be four Sabbath Days, two regular and two high sabbath days.  Firstfruits would be 18 Nisan, 3790,  or Sunday,  April 7, 30 AD.

Pentecost was 50 days following the Feast of Firstfruits, 7 Sabbaths and one day.  The resurrection of Christ Jesus was a Sunday, therefore, the Feast of Shavuot, of weeks, of harvest, or Pentecost is a Sunday, (8 Sivan, 3790, May 26, 30 AD), Ex.23:14-17, Lev 23, Duet. 16:16.  The correct annual date for Pentecost is not connected to the date of Easter, and Pentecost did not originate with the beginnings of Christianity.   The Greek word πεντηκοστή in the Septuagint translation of the Old Testament in reference to the Hebrew’s Feast of Shavuot, which is celebrated every year in very late spring.

It should be noted that Jesus fulfilled each of these feasts, not only observing them each year he lived, but actually became them with His Death, Burial, and Resurrection and through the Spirit, Pentecost.  It is also amazing that the Jews missed these events since they were all mentioned in the Old Testament hundreds of years before they happened and these feasts they practiced and rehearsed every year!

The Feast of Trumpets falls on the first of Tishri, the 7th month of the Hebrew sacred calendar and first on the civic calendar.  Israel, has two calendars because they reflect both the Lunar and solar calendars.  Wikilinks said The Hebrew calendar, “is a lunisolar calendar used today predominantly for Jewish religious observances. It determines the dates for Jewish holidays and the appropriate public reading of Torah portions, yahrzeits (dates to commemorate the death of a relative), and daily Psalm readings, among many ceremonial uses. In Israel, it is used for religious purposes, provides a time frame for agriculture and is an official calendar for civil purposes, although the latter usage has been steadily declining in favor of the Gregorian calendar.”

The Feasts of Trumpets, Leviticus 23:23-25,  is the only feast that is based on the sighting of the new moon while all the others are based on the full moon.  Since it is based on the new moon sighting it is interesting to note that there is no one certain day it can called, because it took two priests to make a physical sighting of when the new moon was and that info had to be passed on to the High Priests.  This Day is also known as one long day.  This Day is also associated the wedding feast of the bridegroom coming for his bride.     It is started with a sabbath, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, and an holy convocation.  It is also called Rosh Hashanah, which means “Head of the Year,” because it marks the beginning of the Jewish civil calendar.  The Hebrew word תרועה Yom Teruah, has this definition, which means “a shout” or “a blowing.” It appears that the shofar (ram’s horn) was to be blown at this time, as it was on the other new moons (Psalm 81:3). Jewish tradition indicates that both the ram’s horn and the priestly silver horns (hazozerah) were used in the Feast of Trumpets.  The Feast of Trumpets was a blowing of trumpets to announce to God’s people of a time of judgement and Christ’s coming, ” (Joel 2:1; see also Zephaniah 1:14,16).  Now while these three feasts all are in the same month of Tishri the timing or fullment of their events may happen in different years.  Daniel’s prophecy in Dan 9, 24-27, noting the time of Jacobs trouble, Jeremiah 30, that there may be years between the three fall Feasts, even though they celebrated every year at the same time each year.  There are 7 years between Christ’s actual coming and a time of judgement by the anti-christ, Time of Jacob’s Trouble, Jer. 30, Dan 9:24-27.

The Feast of Atonement is kept on 10 Tishri for 5 days, and known as Yom Kippur.  Leviticus 16:1-34 brings out all the rituals involved, in how the priests are to react and how the Children of Israel are to repent before the Lord returns. Jews today still celebrate the annual Day of Atonement, traditionally observing this holy day with a 25-hour period of fasting and intensive prayer, often spending most of the day in synagogue services. This Feast falls on different days each year in the Gregorian calendar in September-October, like all the rest of the feasts.  The first Yom Kippur was instituted the day after the the Israelites worshipped the golden calf, and Moses told them they had sinned a great sin, Ex 32:30-33 and Ex 34:39-30 When Moses came down claiming God had forgiven them.

The Feast of Tabernacles is celebrated on 15 Tishri by the Israelites.  On our modern Gregorian calendar, which did NOT exist at the time of Christ Jesus’ birth, He would have been born on Saturday, 30 September, 4BC, according to the Hebcal Converter, and not December 25th, as the Catholics set forth.   The Feast of Tabernacles.  15 Tishri,  3761 (Hebrew year must be in the common era (3761 and above)  on the Hebrew’s calendar,  would be the day Jesus was born and is associated when He comes again 15 Tishri in an up coming year, marks when Jesus will come again to establish His kingdom here on earth as the King of Kings, Rev. 19.  This comes from believing the verse that says Jesus is Emanuel, God With Us, Matthew 1:23, “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us”.  He was with us at his birth and will be again at his second coming and that time is celebrated by the Israelites each year on  15 Tishri, the Feast of Tabernacles, or Feast of Booths.

Leviticus 23:39-43,   Also in the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when ye have gathered in the fruit of the land, ye shall keep a feast unto the Lord seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath. And ye shall take you on the first day the boughs of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and the boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and ye shall rejoice before the Lord your God seven days. And ye shall keep it a feast unto the Lord seven days in the year. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations: ye shall celebrate it in the seventh month. Ye shall dwell in booths seven days; all that are Israelites born shall dwell in booths: That your generations may know that I made the children of Israel to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.Sukkot-56a1485c3df78cf772692870

Artist conception of the time                                  Modern day view

This has been a short overview of the Feasts of the Lord and designed to get you started on a study of of your own.

Psalms 119:8 “Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.

One of those wondrous things to behold are the Feasts of the Lord given to the Nation of Israel in Leviticus 23.  The 7 feasts are Prophetic in nature and lay out the first and second comings of Christ and all that is in between pertaining to Israel and not to the church.  The timing of these 7 feasts are based on the lunar calendar.  Each of the feasts is a reminder of events in the Nation of Israel’s history and layout a prophetic timeline for Jesus, the Messiah.

God in his creation of our world established our events according to his time table, that is his calendar.  Genesis 1:14.  “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years“.  (Just so you know, “the firmament”,  is called “the expanse” in other versions, is in fact “the universe” and an interesting topic for another blog)   God gave us in his creation all the makings for a calendar, sun, moon, stars, light, darkness, in order to establish signs, seasons, days, and years.   The rotation or orbit of the moon around the earth and the earth orbit around the sun provide for seasons, days, and years.  The reasons we have 24 hour days, 29-30 day months (Hebrew calendar) and 30-31 day months + a leap year (Gregorian calendar).

Accordingly, the basic Hebrew calendar year is one of twelve lunar months alternating between 29 and 30 days: No. In leap years (such as 5774) an additional month, Adar I (30 days) is added after Shevat, while the regular Adar is referred to as “Adar II.”

This chart shows the difference between the Hebrew and Gregorian Calendars.  The chart breaks months into seasons by color, also giving the days each month has  according to the Hebrew month, and listing the Jewish holidays in each month.  This will be discussed in further detail later.

The Hebrew calendar is different from the Gregorian calendar, established by Pope Gregory.  The following Google search reveals this information: Gregorian calendar is internationally the most widely used civil calendar. It is named after Pope Gregory XIII, who introduced it in October 1582. It was a refinement to the Julian calendar involving an approximately 0.002% correction in the length of the calendar year.  Calendars, are another story for another blog.

The cover photo gives the names of 7 major feasts, found in Leviticus 23, that are divided into Spring and Fall feasts. The 4 Spring feasts are listed in different months while the 3 Fall feasts are all listed in the 7th month, Tishri, (Hebrew) or September – October, (Gregorian).

However, Leviticus 23 has 8 feasts listed, the very first one, The Sabbath, (discussed sooner than latter).   The Hebrew definitions, according to Strong’s dictionary, for the words signs, seasons, days, and years are more of those “wondrous things”  God give us to behold.  When we think of the seasons, we would think of our 4 seasons, winter, spring, summer, and fall.  We would, however, be wrong in doing so.

Genesis 1:14.  “And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years

Leviticus 23:2, “Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, Concerning the feasts of the Lord, which ye shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my feasts.”

Leviticus 23:4  “These are the feasts of the Lord, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.”

These feasts are the Lord’s and were woven into the very fabric of Israel’s history.  The Bible demonstrates their significance by explaining their message and God having the Israelites celebrate them every year.     The words translated Feasts and Seasons in these 3 verses are actually the same Hebrew word “moed”.  This word can also be translated appointed, assembly, time, congregation.   Strong”s Dictionary says, “an appointment, i.e. a fixed time or season; specifically, a festival; conventionally a year; by implication, an assembly (as convened for a definite purpose); technically the congregation; by extension, the place of meeting; also a signal (as appointed beforehand): — appointed (sign, time), (place of, solemn) assembly, congregation, (set, solemn) feast, (appointed, due) season, solemn(-ity), synogogue, (set) time (appointed).”   Therefore, These feasts are “divine appointments” set up as “dress rehearsals” at the specific dates established on the Hebrew calendar.

The first feast mentioned in Leviticus 23 is the “Sabbath Feast”, but not recognized by bible scholars, as part of the 7 feasts, Leviticus 23:3  “Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the Lord in all your dwellings.”  However, the Sabbath is often part of the 7 feasts because it happens every Friday night at 6:00 PM to Saturday night at 6:00 PM,   I said, “sooner than latter.”

keeping-the-sabbath-holy-banner       The Sabbath is a special event to be  happening as noted above and is discussed beginning in Genesis 2: 2-3, “And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.”  However the word “sabbath”  is translated 108 times and is first used in Exodus 16:23 and not here.   Questions;  When was the Sabbath set up to be followed or kept Genesis 2 or Exodus 20?  Who first kept the sabbath, Adam and Eve or Nation of Israel?  Well before getting into a plethora of questions.   Let us try to understand what the Bible says about the sabbath!

What does the Bible say about Keeping the Sabbath?

Keeping the Sabbath is a covenant arrangement with the nation of Israel given in the 10 Commandments, Exodus 20:8-11,   “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.”   While, the word “sabbath” was not used, but the description and definition is used in Genesis 2: 1-3.   Adam and Eve may have very well know of God’s sabbath day rest.   Genesis 2: 1-3,  “Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made”.

It may be  inconsistent to think that God would sanctify the seventh day without Adam and Eve not being aware of it and God not instructing Adam and Eve how to observe  the day and why.   It may be  inconsistent to think that way, however, it can argued that from Adam to Moses that no one kept the sabbath day rest observance.  The silence of scripture is somewhat deafening in Genesis in how none of the patriarchs are told about the sabbath or how to observe the day.  However, the fact remains that the patriarchs were told some things about their relationship with the great Almighty.  Cain and Abel’s acts of worship,  God’s conversations with Noah, Abraham, and/or Lot, we are not privy to all of their conversations.   Therefore, we have no idea what they were told about observing the sabbath.

The deafening silence of scripture isn’t so deafening when considering the verbiage of Genesis 2: 2-3, Exodus 16:23-29, and Exodus 20:11.   In Genesis 2:2 the declaration of the sabbath, without use of the word, “sabbath”, could be seen as an evidence that Adam knew of the practice.

In Exodus 16:23-29, the word sabbath is used 4 times in these 7 verses.   In these verses the nation of Israel is instructed, on the to do’s and don’t dos, because of what the greatness of the day.  The nation of Israel knew full well what the sabbath was all about, the feeding of the nation with manna since he pulled them from the  bondage in Egypt.

In Exodus 20:11, This the formal giving of the Law of Moses.  The key point here is the word “remember”, the very first word used in the giving of this commandment. Why would God be telling his people to remember something for them to do if they had no prior knowledge of it?  This question gives way to the fact that the nation knew of the keeping of sabbath.  Their need to to take the reminder serious could come from their 400 years making brick and their God bringing them out of bondage!

In the case of Noah, God observed his sabbath in his dealings with Noah and the flood   You can tell he did by the number of times he uses the term “seven days” in Genesis 7 and 8.   In those chapters God would cause an event and wait seven days or say “after seven days” cause an event.  Genesis 7:4. For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.  The old saying is true, “timing is everything.”

Personally, I think when it comes to the sabbath, it is much like a covenant that God declares at different times, like he did with Adam, announcing him King of the Kingdom of Heaven, Genesis 1:26-31.   The observance of the sabbath would have been passed down from Adam to his sons in the same fashion they knew to bring offerings at times of worship as in the story of Cain and Abel.

However, the question arises as mentioned earlier, why is it not mentioned much before the giving of the Law of Moses?  Since the scripture is quite silent on the particulars on the lives of the patriarchs, we too should remain quite.

In the first blog about “The Apostles OF THE LORD” I listed all that were sited with apostles and got to thinking about it.  Then came to mind was 2 Timothy 2:15 and rightly dividing the Word.   Since only a few people not of the 12 were called apostles, Paul, Barnabas, Apollos, and James, the Lord’s brother were called “apostles”.  The others were not actually called apostles.  The Greek word “apostolos” is translated apostle and also messenger.  Others were given a description of an apostle but not actually called an apostle.   There are 6 men named apostles and 2 called messengers,  The following names below are the 8 people that fit the description of an apostle.

Paul,  Roman 1:1 and the 12 other books he wrote,  Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

Barnabas,  Acts 14:14, Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out,

Apollos,   Corinthians 4:6, 9, And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.   9, For I think that God hath set forth us the apostles last, as it were appointed to death: for we are made a spectacle unto the world, and to angels, and to men.

James, the Lord’s brother, Gal. 1:19,  But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord’s brother.

Silvanus andTimothy, I Thessalonians 1:1 and 2:6,     Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians which is in God the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.  2:6, Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.

Epaphroditus,  Philippians 2:25,   Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants

Titus  2 Corinthians 2:25  Whether any do enquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellowhelper concerning you: or our brethren be enquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ.

Andronicus and Junia–Romans 16:7, “Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellowprisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.”   They were given a great salute by Paul and said to be known of the apostles.  However, they were not given the title of apostle.  Other Brothers not named but also faithful are called messengers, according to Acts 28:23, “Whether any do enquire of Titus, he is my partner and fellowhelper concerning you: or our brethren be enquired of, they are the messengers of the churches, and the glory of Christ”.

Therefore, the first 6 men listed are indeed apostles, while the others are not apostles, should there be be a difference between the two words!  According to 2 Timothy 2:15 the other men that may fit the description of apostle but not actually called apostles may not be!   Henceforth, Epaphroditus, Titus, and the other unnamed brothers, may not be apostles even though the word messenger is from the same Greek word “apostolos” is used.    While, apostleship is an office, messenger is not according to Ephesians 4:11   “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;”

The authors of the KJV decided to translate the Greek word “apostolos” as “messenger”,  in these cases.   Possible reasons is either to reveal a distinguishing difference in apostle and messenger, or to give an explanation/definition of the word apostle.   The word “messenger” has two Greek words for this word, “messenger” and “apostle”.   Strong’s,  1 “apostolos” as from 649; a delegate; specially, an ambassador of the Gospel; officially a commissioner of Christ (“apostle”) (with miraculous powers):–apostle, messenger, he that is sent.   And,  2 “ἄγγελος”, from aggello (probably derived from 71; compare 34) (to bring tidings); a messenger; especially an “angel”; by implication, a pastor:–angel, messenger.

We  understand there are the original 12 and Christ as apostles.  There is another 6 men called apostles and then others who are called messengers, most likely another 6 bringing the total to 24 plus Christ, who is an apostle, Hebrew 3:1!  Now, having said all that, this brings up an interesting thought.  Suppose, all those who were called messengers were actually apostles.  This would make the total of apostles to be 24, who are men and not angels.  This would be important if you would consider Revelation 4:4  “And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold”.

These 24 Elders, clothed in white, wearing crowns, are not angels,  but saints of the church.  Strong’s defines these “Elders” as comparative of presbus (elderly); older; as noun, a senior; specially, an Israelite Sanhedrist (also figuratively, member of the celestial council) or Christian “presbyter”:– elder(-est), old, Greek word,  “πρεσβύτερος”, “presbuteros”.   For further details on this see “Who are the twenty-four (24) elders in Revelation?”,  https://www.gotquestions.org/24-elders.html.  Now it is true the Bible provides no verse as to who these 24 Elders are, so says people at Got Questions.  This theory, these 24 elders are the apostles of the church, is a presumption, but it would interesting if further research were possible to make this link work!

How Close Are WE?

70th Week

I heard President Trump deliver a speech declaring that Jerusalem was the capital of the Nation of Israel.  Also on Fox News that peace talks would start soon, while other foreign leaders were condemning President Trump for this action.  I think the band is warming up for Daniel’s 70 week to begin!

Daniel’s 70 week , (Dan. 9:24-27) known for it’s teaching on the “Abomination of Desolation” Matt. 24:15  “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)”.  Mark 13:14.  “But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not, (let him that readeth understand,) then let them that be in Judaea flee to the mountains”:  Both of these passages of Scripture are textually speaking of the events before when Christ will be returning as king.  Daniel 9:24-27 is speaking of this same time that the apostle John writes of in Revelation 13, when speaking of the Anti-Christ.

The Anti-Christ is going to establish a one world government.  He will set this new world order according to the the chart at the right.  All four of these items are ready to be put in place.  When this new leader shows up he will allow Israel to worship in a newly built Temple for 3.5 years and then break his agreement and demand that he is to be worshipped.  Assigning a mark for his worshippers to wear and those who do not worship him are reserved as the sacrifice, having their heads cut off (Rev. 20: 4)

The Scripture for tracing this teaching is Daniel 7:8-11, 19-26, 9:24-27, 11:36-45, Revelation 13:1-8. 17:1-13, 20:4.   These verses show how the Anti-Christ will rule over a ten nation confederacy that will represent a revived Roman empire.  Once the treaty is signed between the Anti-Christ and Israel, allowing Israel toworship  God The Father.  They will begin to do this in a newly built temple for three and a half years, when the Anti-Christ will put an end to this and demand that all worship him.

John Walvoord summed an article he wrote about the Anti-Christ and the scripture relating topic with this statement.  “The appropriateness of this prophecy to our present day is another indication that the church may be ending its earthly course and that end-time prophecy is about to be fulfilled”.     This article was taken from the Theological Journal Library CD and posted with permission of Galaxie Software.

I agree with Mr Walvoord when he says “end-time prophecy is about to be fulfilled”. Therefore, what we are seeing in the news these days, referencing the recognizing of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, the activity with North Korea, and news on the GOP and the Democrats, are in fact evidence that end time prophecy is about to be fulfilled.

The time is drawing near as mentioned in the blog about the End Time Events.  We are on the eve of the Anti-Christ playing his “One World Government” card.  Internet sources predict a 2030 date for there agenda to kick off, or be in full swing, that is just twelve years from now.  The goals of the Anti-Christ are laid out in the book of Revelation chapter thirteen.   The agenda of the anti-Christ through the United Nations is to make this happen as seen in the chart.14134705_666038046886022_737894274_n

The last four Presidents were all in favor of this agenda. The Sovereign God to ensure his plan caused an upset in Satan’s agenda with our 2016 Presidential election!  He placed a President in office that has thwarted this agenda like no other!   1 Cor. 1:27-28   “But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are”.   If you watch the news you can see how God has gummed up the works for Liberals and the Democrats by his choice of president or the USA in the last election!

“The only thing they are lacking right now is a sufficient crisis big enough to win enthusiastic public support in America and other nations in the world for full-on global governance,” says Paul McGuire, a Fox News and History Channel contributor and co-author of the new release, “Babylon Code: Solving the Bible’s Greatest End Time Mystery.”        Read more at http://www.wnd.com/2015/09/obama-puts-u-s-on-fast-track-to-world-government/#OwDMhe4J6u9E9fsC.99.

Do you think the Korean, “Rocket Man” could provide this substantial crisis that would be big enough to kick this off?     But this is no joking matter and I don’t mean to make light of this situation.  But what this really means is that one needs to be sure they have a right relationship with the Lord.  They need to ask God to forgive their sin and ask Christ to come into their heart and save them.   Follow this scripture

Romans 10:9-13 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

We have come to the “Most Wonderfull Time of the Year”, Christmas time!!!  I think most true disciples realize that December 25th is not the actual date of the birth of Christ.  The question is; “Do we have an actual date for Christ’s birth?”  That is a tough one.  The Bible does not give a verse that tells us that exact date, but does lay out various clues that may help zone in on a precise date.  A quick answer can provide the day but not the year, if one would take the feasts of the Lord, given to the Jews in Leviticus 23 as to when the Jews were to celebrate certain things.  slide1-n

The Feasts of the Lord, given above are broken down into Spring Feasts and Fall Feasts.  Theses feasts have been on the Jewish calendar since the time of Moses and are dress rehearsals for the Israelites to play out each year.  These feasts also lay out the doctrinal and prophetic events that were and those to come for the nation of Israel.  These spring feasts were fulfilled by Christ Jesus to the day and hour.  The fall feasts are believed to be fulfilled the same way!  Jesus will fulfill these fall feasts to the day and to the hour.

The Feast of Tabernacles,  Sukkot,  points directly to the time Israel dwelt in the wilderness for forty years in booths, i.e. tents.  Sukkot also points prophetically towards our Lord’s second coming, and the millennial reign of Christ, when God will dwell among us.   This feast will be fulfilled in the days to come.   This feast was fulfilled once already when Christ came to dwell with us when he came at his birth and was called “Emanuel, God with us”, Matt. 1:23    “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”    Therefore, this day, The Feast of Tabernacles,  is the day on which Jesus was born!  Therefore, whatever day of the week this day falls on, that day is the date of the Lord’s birthday!   Therefore, the 15th of Tishri, (end of September and beginning of October),  is the day Jesus was born.  What is not known is the year our Lord was born.  Even as the date is now set at December 25th, the year still is unknown.  Those who have viewed the verses and ultra biblical sources have only stated that the year would fall somewhere between 7bc and 1bc, a seven year span that could be the year of Christ’s birth would have been.

The Events that are searched out for this information are things like Herod’s death, the reign of Pilate, why did Joseph and Mary go to Bethlehem, the birth of John the baptist, and others like Josephus, an extra Biblical source, and others!  For others that would site the same conclusions you can scan those on YouTube.  Pastor Mark Blitz is one you can check for facts about The Feasts of Israel, author of “God’s Day Timer”.

The Feasts of the Lord at the time they were given by Moses, were prophetic events that would expose all that the Lord would accomplish in the life of Christ for the nation of Israel and ultimately the world.  Jesus fulfilled the first four feasts to the day and hour.   Jesus was the passover lamb, the bread of life, the first fruits of the harvest, and is the head of the church.  He is why the Trumpets are blown, who will be judge on the Day of Atonement, and he is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, when he returns to establish his Kingdom.

The Feasts of the Lord are definitely the Lords.  However they were given to Israel, by Moses, Leviticus 23, and apply to the nation of Israel.  They were to be fulfilled by Israel each and every year to the date and hour and they have been before and after Christ Jesus.  However, the Body of Christ, while not directed to keep these feasts does not mean there is not application to the Body of Christ.

The Apostles of the Lord, Cont.

th         JUDAS ISCARIOT5c38d654f9ff663384dd799c73a00c2a--judas-iscariot-the-bible

The one apostle who is known far beyond he others is Judas Iscariot.   There is good reason for this.  Judas was known for being the greedy treasurer of the group, concluding with the Pharisees for 30 pieces of silver, becoming the traitor of Christ, and for hanging himself.

.Judas_Kiss    Judas is by far a character, However, the thing he is most noted for is Jesus’s reference of Judas as being the “son of perdition”

The following two passages of scripture will bear this out.

John 17:12   “While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.”

2 These. 2:3   “Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition”

Jesus is praying to the Father saying He has keep all the apostles, given to him by the Father, except one, the “son of perdition”, that being “Judas”.  And in the second verse this son of perdition is referred to as the “man of sin”, again that is Judas, for he is the son of perdition!  Another interesting verse concerning Judas is in Acts 1.25   “And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men, shew whether of these two thou hast chosen, That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell,”  This passage is talking how the apostles were choosing another person to the apostleship to replace Judas.  The interesting thing here is the last phrase one the verse,  “that he might go to his own place.”  So what is his own place?

So what are we talking about here?   Judas has died and what place is he going to, Abraham’s bosom or hell, Luke 16:19-31, (the story of Lazarus and the rich man), or his own place, should that place be different from those two.   Judas is the “son of perdition”, does that mean he is more than an ordinary man?  Judas as an ordinary man, who is not saved, would be placed in hell, like the rich man of Luke 16.  If Judas was a saved man he would have gone to Abraham’s bosom, like Lazarus, from the same passage.  He could not have gone to heaven at that time for Christ had not died and resurrected yet.  Today the unsaved, lost man when he dies goes to hell. The saved individual, those “Born Again” by the Spirit of God, will go to heaven, 2 Thess. 5:8. “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”

Therefore, what does it mean that Judas is the “son of perdition”, a “son of the damned”, (see strong’s definition of perdition), and he went to his own place?  Jesus was talking with his disciples, calling Judas a devil, John 6:70-71    “Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? — He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve”.  OK, Judas is a devil, so where would be the place that would be his own?  I call your attention to Revelation 9.  However, before looking a Revelation, I want to remind you of the men that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah were angels, Gen. 18-19.  The Idea here is that since angels can transform themselves into men, devils likewise can transform themselves into men as well.  Devils who could do this would give highlights to who were the “sons of God” were in Genesis 6.  Jude gives information as to what may be Judas’ own place, Jude 1:6-7    “And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire”.

Revelation 9 gives us a clue that the “bottomless pit” is the place Judas was headed too upon his death after hanging himself.  Rev. 9:1   “And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit” and Rev 9:11   “And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon.”   Along with the Jude passage and those of Genesis it is real conceivable that Judas is in fact a fallen angel, a devil, confined to the bottomless pit until a later date, either a time in the great tribulation or at the great white throne judgment and being cast into a lake of fire.

This discussion opens further discussions on who are the sons of God, for Born Again christians are called sons of God in John 1:11-13   “He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God”.

2 Cor. 15:20-21   “Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him”.

End Time Events

In the way our country and our world have established themselves, one could say we are in the “End Times”!   It was seen Nov. 28, 2017 that North Korea has an ICBM missile that can now reach the USA!    So the question is, how long is it before the Antichrist plays the “One World Government” card?   There is no doubt that the USA is under the judgment of God, with hurricanes in the south, forrest fires in California, a volcano in Hawaii, and now a vicious threat from North Korea.   This is a very real threat could be the event that could push the USA into WWIII.  We are seeing Sexual Harassment and Assault cases in every area from governmental agencies to the private sector, which alone to be enough to bring the judgment of God upon us.

The key to the beginning of end time events is the Nation of Israel.  What is happening to them is what needs to be looked at to determine were we are at in the end times.  However, it will take a crisis to bring in the End Times.  Look at this quote from Paul McGuire, a Fox News and History Channel contributor and co-author of the new release, “Babylon Code: Solving the Bible’s Greatest End Time Mystery.   “The only thing they are lacking right now is a sufficient crisis big enough to win enthusiastic public support in America and other nations in the world for full-on global governance,”

Should North Korea shoot off a missile or the USA set off a pre-emptive strike could be the crisis it takes to set off the one world government movement.

Who Were the Seventy Apostles

The Seventy chosen by the Lord Jesus are only recorded in the Gospel of Luke in chapter ten.  Their names are not recorded but they were given a call very similar to that of the twelve.  In Luke 10 these Seventy were never referred to as apostles and Luke refers to the Seventy as “disciples”.  Most likely some or many did not meet the qualifications for apostles, even though they are sent out by Christ.  Catholic scholars have lists of who the Seventy might be and you can Google to see them.

The Seventy find they are to go to every city that the Lord would go Himself, while the Twelve were only to go to the Nation of Israel.   This means their travels was not limited to just Jews but may have  include Gentiles, as well.  The other significant difference was in the message the two groups were to deliver.  The Twelve were to preach “The Kingdom of Heaven was at hand”, (Matt. 10:7) while the Seventy were to deliver in their message, “The Kingdom of God is at hand”  (Luke 10:11).  This is signifiant because of who they are and who they represent.  The Message of the Twelve was to be given to the Nation of Israel only.  Therefore the “Kingdom of Heaven” was a message for the Nation of Israel, for The Millennial Kingdom is the fulfillment of the covenants of God to them.

Yes, there are those who say that both statements can be used interchangeably!  Even though similar things can be said of both, they are very much different in there nature.   The real fact that connect these two Kingdoms together is that King Jesus is the King of both when he is present.  The Kingdom of Heaven is a literal, physical, and political kingdom.  Something your five senses can appreciate.  This literal, physical, and political kingdom was given to Adam when he was created, Gen. 1:27-28 “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth”.   To have dominion over something is the work of a king.images

The Kingdom of Heaven is a literal, physical, and political place noted in Genesis, the firmament (the Universe) is called Heaven.   Gen. 1:8  “And God called the firmament Heaven.”  Adam was made, the king, of this kingdom by the Trinity.  Over the past 6000 years this literal, physical, and political kingdom changed hands from time to time to where Satan is now the god of this world,  the being in charge of what goes on here on this planet, (2 For. 4:4 “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”).

However, with that being said, one must understand God is sovereign,  He ultimately controls all things through the covenants He has made.  When Jesus was here during his first advent the phrase “is at hand”, was associated with both “Kingdoms”,  was valid.   The Israelites rejection of Jesus as their King allowed Satan to keep his seat.  When Jesus returns as King of Kings he will take Satan off his throne and through him in the pit, Rev 20:1-3.Covenants

When Jesus returns as “King of Kings and Lord of Lords to establish His Kingdom on earth.  He will take “The Kingdom of Heaven” from Satan. Sentencing him to thousand year stay in the bottomless pit, Rev. 20:1-11.  The theological term for this thousand year reign of Christ is; “The Millennial Kingdom”.   This is discussed by Christ in the Book of Matthew in “The Sermon on the Mount”,  in chapters 5-7.  This is the fulfillment of the covenants given to the Nation of Israel throughout the Old Testament.

The Kingdom of God, on the other hand, is the message of the Seventy, is not a literal, physical, and political kingdom, but “The Kingdom God” is of a spiritual nature, John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”   This Kingdom of God is only entered by one being “Born Again”,  John 3:3-7.  “Ye must be born again”.  One who is “Born Again” become a sons of God, John 1:11-13, “He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” Look for posts on “Eternal Life” for discussions on being “Born Again” and “Sons of God”.

One can see, in these verses, how through the rejection of Jesus, by the Nation of Israel, how Jesus failed to become king and the Nation of Israel missed having “The Kingdom of Heaven”.  Jesus is returning as the conquering savior, Rev. 19:11-21.  “He will rule the nations with a rod of iron”, Rev. 19:15.  Jesus now the King of ‘The Kingdom of Heaven, throwing the Beast and False Prophet in the “Lake of Fire” and Satan into the “Bottomless Pit”, will establish his “Millennial Reign” on this earth.

When Jesus ascended to the right hand of the Father, Acts 1:8, He left as a Priest in The Kingdom of God only.  The kingship of The Kingdom of Heaven was left in Satan’s hands.  Jesus now is head of his body, the church, a priest, until He returns as “King of Kings and Lord of Lords”, Rev. 19:11-21.   His office He fills now is Priest.  He was the “Prophet” in the Old Testament and will be positioned as “King” when he returns.

The Kingdom of Heaven belongs to the Nation of Israel, and while they are in the land possession takes place when their King arrives.    The Kingdom of God is inhabited by the Church, the “Bride of Christ”.  Through the covenants of God the Nation of Israel was promised a Kingdom.  When Jesus returns as King he will fulfill this promise to them.  A look at Revelation 20, 21, and 22 will give you something to think about when God makes a new heaven and new earth.

Who were the Seventy apostles?  It is hard to say they were apostles, but we do know they were disciples, Luke 10.  The word apostle is not used for their description.  By definition of the word apostle they seem to fit the definition.  However, they may not bare the name apostle because they may have not met the qualifications.  See blog “The Apostles of the Lord?”

Essential Oils of the Bible

david-stewartThis is David Stewart.  David is a registered Aromatherapist, a former United Methodist pastor, holds degrees in physics, math, earth science, natural medicine, and author of sixteen books.   He is President of the Center for Aromatherapy Research and Education (CARE) offering training programs throughout North America, which includes the scriptural basis of helping oils.  the CARE website, http://www.raindroptrainging.com.  I think he knows a bit about these Essential Oils of the Bible.

Looking at these alphabetically we will start with Aloes or Sandalwood (Santalum album) from John 19:39. And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.”

Biblical Aloe was an oil imported from India, known as sandalwood.  Sandalwood is known for its ability to nurture various systems in the body by:                     The Sandalwood Plant

  • Oxygenating tissue, including the brain
  • Stimulating our natural secretions melatonin
  • Enabling a good night’s rest
  • Preparing bodies for burial

Cassia (Cinnamomum Cassia). Psalm 45:8. All thy garments

maxresdefaultsmell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory palaces, whereby they have made thee glad.”                 The Cassia Plant

Our sense of smell is wired directly to our emotional brain were our feelings are catalogued where Cassia can nourish our bodies by:

  • Stimulating feelings of joy, happiness, and gladness
  • Enabling emotional healing

Cedarwood (Cedrus Atlantical). Leviticus 14:17 And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trespass offering.”                              The Cedarwood Plantth

This verse tells in where to apply the oil, not making mention what type oil is used.  However, the context of the passage reveals that cedarwood is involved in  the act of cleansing.  Solomon used Cedar Wood in the building of his temple and home in   1 Kings 6:9-15.  In maligning this choice of lumber he would be inhaling in the Cedar wood scent so that he would be able to think clearly and wisely.  Cedarwood has the following effects:

  • Clearing our minds of clutter
  • Clarifying our thinking

Cypress (Cupress Sempervirens) Isaiah 41:19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar and the acacia tree, The myrtle and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the cypress tree and the pine, And the box tree together.”                        The Cypress TreeDwarf-Hinoki-Cypress-450w

Modern sciences ha shown that inhaling, applying, or taking Cypress Oils internally stimulates white blood corpuscle generation which may have beneficial applications following chemotherapy and radiation.  The molecules of  cypress oil deem to have an affinity with all aspects of the cardiovascular system, including blood vessels and heart.  Uses for Cypress Oil includes:

  • Fighting arthritis
  • Battling laryngitis
  • Reducing scar tissue
  • Boosting the immune system

Frankincense (Boswellia Carteri)  Leviticus 2:1 “And when any will offer a meat offering unto the Lord, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense thereon”.     The Frankincense Treetree-acacia

Used for religious rituals, flavoring food, and for all manner of healing purposes, frankincense is the second most frequently mentioned oil in the Bible.  Ancient Egyptians  had a saying that “frankincense could heat everything from gout to a broken head.”   Frankincense has been used by various religions and royalty to help with:

  • Reducing anxiety and concerns
  • Promoting focus on spiritual matters

Galbanum (Ferula Gummosa) Exodus 30:34-35 “And when any will offer a meat offering unto the Lord, his offering shall be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense thereon.”              eo_galbanum

Galbanum was one of the four oils in the holy incense, which has been burned Jewish temples for thousands of years in combinations with Myrrh, Onycha, and Frankincense.  Historically, Galbanum has been used for:                                                                The Galbanum Plant

  • Providing pain relief
  • Hindering cramps and spasms
  • Repairing abscesses, wounds, wrinkles, and acne
  • Battling asthma and chronic coughs

Hyssop (Hyssopus Officinalis) Exodus 12:22 “And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.”                               The Hyssop Planthyssop

Animal sacrifices were offered almost daily in Jewish temples which could result in a bad oder problem.  However, the jewish congregation regularly supplied the priests  with fresh fragrant herbs that were scattered on the temple floor each morning.  When people walked over them, crushing their leaves and stems, their fragrant oils would be released and freshen the air.  The Scripture above refers to the first Passover.

Myrrh(Commiphora Myrrha) Matthew 2:11 “And when they were come intoMyrrhe-Pflanze the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh”.                              The Myrrh Tree

Myrrh is the most frequently mentioned oil of the Bible (156 times).  it is the first oil mentioned in the Old Testament (Genesis 37:25) and the last mentioned in the New Testament (Revelation 15:23).  It is one of the first to be received by the Christ child along with Frankincense and the last to bed offered as he stood at the cross (Mark15:23).

Myrtle (Myrtus Communis) Isaiah 55:13. “Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the Lord for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.”  The Myrtle Treecrepe-myrtle

To the. ancient Jews, the Myrtle Tree was a symbol of peace and justice as well as a source fr a healing oil.  In celebration of their freedom from Babylonian captivity and the restoration of the law of Moses, the Jews gathered branches of Myrtle (Nehemiah 8:15).  In Biblical times myrtle oil was used for the following reasons:

  • Purifying from uncleanliness
  • Restoring normal thyroid activity
  • Decongesting the respiratory tract and sinuses

Onycha (Styrax Benzoin)  Exodus 30: 34-35  “And the Lord said unto Moses, Take unto thee sweet spices, stacte, and onycha, and galbanum; these sweet spices with pure frankincense: of each shall there be a like weight

Back To Basics- Using Onycha Oil As A Wound Healer

: And thou shalt make it a perfume, a confection after the art of the apothecary, tempered together, pure and holy”                         The Onycha Plant (Lord’s Calendula)

While Onycha Oil was used in the holy incense of Exodus 30, it modern uses have been extensive.  it has a wonderful odor of vanilla because it contains vanillin aldehyde, also found in the vanilla plant.  Onycha contains more acids than any other oil, including benzoic acid.  This oil has been used for:

  • Providing antiseptic service to the body
  • Producing a calming scent

Rose of Sharon (Cistus Ladanifer) Song of Solomon 2:1. “I am the rose of Sharon,
and the lily of the valleys.”                                                                    The Rose of SharonRoseofSharon

Also known a Cistus, Labdanum, and Rock Rose, this is not the traditional sweet smelling flower with the thorny stems we normally think of.  It is a wild bloom that has grown on the Plains of Sharon, west of Jerusalem, for thousand of years.  Rose of Sharon has proven able in:

  • Healing cuts and bruises
  • Relieving sciatic nerve pain

Spikenard (Nardostachys Jatamansi) Song of Solomon 1:12 “

Inula conyzae 5, Donderkruid, Saxifraga-Rutger Barendse

While the king sitteth at his table, my spikenard sendeth forth the smell thereof.”                         The Spikenard Plant

It was an ancient custom to honor distinguished guests by anointing their head and feet with Spikenard.  Jesus was anointed twice with spikenard the week before he died, (Matthew 26:6-7 and John 12:1-3).  The fragrance from this essential oil has been used in:

  • Relieving fear and anxiety
  • Preparing the body for burial
